SKU:m-196

The matrix consists of 64 individually addressed RGB LEDs arranged in 8 rows and 8 columns. Each pixel can emit a colour from a 24-bit palette. One microcontroller pin is sufficient to operate the module.

These LEDs are powered with 5VDC and have integrated drivers so no resistors are required. These do require a real time microcontroller such as an AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, ect. They will not work with Linux based micro-computers, Netduinos, or the Basic Stamp.
To use these LEDs: Connect your digital pin to the “IN” pad (data in) on the back of the module and supply power. The FastLED library for Arduino is a great starting point!

8×8 – 64 RGB LED – WS2812B individually addressed

LED matrix. Consists of 64 RGB LEDs in an 8×8 circuit. To control the array, just connect the power supply, ground and control signal from a single pin of the microcontroller, e.g. built in Arduino board. A 5 V DC source is required to power the array. Due to the limited current capacity of Arduino boards, it is recommended to power the master from an external power supply.

Connection

The device has a 3-pin connector consisting of the following leads:

  • GND– module weight
  • 5 V– supply voltage, current consumption of one diode is maximum 60 mA.
  • IN– digital control signal from the microcontroller

Features

  • Dimensions: 70 x 65 x 3mm
  • 64 individually addressable RGB LEDs
  • Input Voltage: 5VDC
  • Current consumption: maximum 60 mA for one diode, white
  • LED Type: WS2812
  • Only one digital output required
  • Mounting Holes: 3mm Diameter
