WS2812B is an intelligent control LED light source in the control circuit and the RGB chip is integrated in a package of 5050 components. It internally includes an intelligent digital port data latch and signal reshaping amplification drive circuit. Also includes a precision internal oscillator and a voltage-programmable constant current control part, effectively ensuring the pixel point light color height is consistent.

These types of LEDs are commonly used in RGB strip lighting where each LED is separately addressable.

The LED is mounted on a breakout board and operates at 5V which makes it handy for experimenting with the parts on a breadboard setup. Headers are supplied separately in case it is desired to wire multiple modules directly together rather than use headers.

The communication used with the LEDs is a 1-wire interface specific to these devices. There are several libraries available to handle the interfacing details including the Adafruit NeoPixel library and the more advanced FastLED library, both of which are supplied with the Arduino IDE.

There are no specific addresses for the LEDs, rather the color data for each is sent down the wire sequentially with the first LED taking the first color data that comes down the wire, the second LED taking the second color data, and so on. After all LEDs are updated, a global command is given to display the new data.

The LEDs can draw up to 60mA each though the brightness is controllable through most libraries to keep the power consumption down. If driving more than a few Arduino power pins, keep an eye on the power consumption or power directly from a separate 5V power supply.

When driving a long distance, it is recommended to insert a 330-470 ohm resistor on the DI line between the microcontroller and the first LED to dampen back reflections. For breadboard-type use, that is not really necessary, but won’t hurt.

Features:
  1. The control circuit and the LED share the only power source.
  2. The control circuit and RGB chip are integrated into a package of 5050 components, forming a complete control of pixel points.
  3. Built-in signal reshaping circuit, after wave reshaping to the next driver, ensures wave-form distortion does not accumulate.
  4. Built-in electric reset circuit and power lost reset circuit.
  5. Each pixel of the three primary colors can achieve 256 brightness levels, or 16M colors full-color display, and scan frequency not less than 400Hz/s.
  6. Cascading port transmission signal by a single line.
  7. Any two points the distance of more than 5m transmission signal without any increase circuit.
  8. When the refresh rate is 30fps, the cascade number is not less than 1024 points.
  9. Send data at speeds of 800Kbps.
  10. The color of the light was highly consistent
  11. Full-color module, Full-color soft lights a lamp strip.
  12. LED decorative lighting, Indoor/outdoor LED video irregular screen.
